Sara Moore is an experienced Speech-Language Therapist with over 18 years’ experience in adult communication, swallowing, voice and airway disorders across hospital, community, aged care and specialist rehabilitation settings. She is a registered member of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists' Association (NZSTA).

Sara provides expert assessment and management for adults with dysphagia, aspiration risk, complex airway needs, voice changes and speech difficulties. She has particular experience supporting people with neurodegenerative conditions, head and neck cancer, tracheostomy, chronic cough, inducible laryngeal obstruction, and complex swallowing presentations.

Sara is experienced in high-risk clinical decision-making, including safe swallowing recommendations, comfort feeding, quality-of-life focused care, and palliative or end-of-life situations. She provides clear, practical guidance that can be implemented by patients, families, care teams and referrers.

Her clinical expertise includes:

  • Complex dysphagia assessment and management

  • Aspiration risk and feeding support

  • Tracheostomy and airway management

  • Head and neck cancer rehabilitation

  • Reflux management

  • Voice and upper airway disorders, including chronic cough and inducible laryngeal obstruction (ILO)

  • Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS)

  • Gender-affirming voice training

  • Staff education and training in swallowing safety and feeding support

Sara works collaboratively with GPs, nurse practitioners, specialists, aged care facilities and allied health professionals to support coordinated, timely care. She is known for providing calm, clear and practical recommendations in complex situations, helping patients, families and care teams make safe, informed decisions.
